I am honored to have been blog tagged by Dan Hounshell. Yet, perplexed by the decision to comply to the rules of the game.
Hmmm... I wonder what the original intent of this was. You remember the game in elementary school where you sat in a circle and the teacher whispered something in the first child's ear? Then, by the time it reached the last person it was absolute jibberish? I have a feeling something similar is happening with this.
Anyway, the best explanation I have found without digging too far back in the chain was from Don Demsak (aka, DonXml). He blogged:
"I'm guessing that the idea here is to help your readers see more of your human side, and offset some of the persona stuff. Plus, you can tag 5 others that probably don't know that you read their blog, thus helping to promote the different blogs that you read."
So, in an effort to show a bit of my human side ... five things you most likely do not know about me (and aren't in my about section).
- My sibling count is made of 100% boys. There are six of us. Based on my limited research, there is about a 3% chance of having a family with six of the same gender.
- I graduated from High School in three years. No, it wasn't because I skipped a grade. As a Sophomore I realized that if I took the right classes I could meet the requirements to graduate by the end of my junior year. The only hold up was approval from the School Board, which I received.
- No, I haven't gotten to fly in a fighter jet, but I have gotten to fly in the simulators of a few (the F-16 and two other stealth fighters which will remain nameless). In addition, I had the opportunity to sit and work inside the cockpit of an operational F-16.
- At the age of 11 I broke both of my ankles after jumping off a horse that was galloping at full speed; And for a good reason. We were approaching a highway with oncoming traffic and the stubborn thing wouldn't stop for my life ... literally. Fortunately, the vehicles saw us coming and stopped in time to spare the horse's life. Too bad.
- After walking away from a head on collision, I have learned to appreciate air bags and seat belts.
As the game goes, I am to blog tag five other people whose blogs I read. I've noticed that many of the Telligenti bloggers have already been tagged and the .NET world of bloggers has been saturated with this game as well.
In any case, I am going to adjust the guidelines slightly and pick brilliant individuals I know whose blogs I would enjoy reading if they would post more frequently.
Lance Hunt, Jim Martin, Bill Robertson, Scott Sargent, and Xander Sherry are it.
